Dr. Nikolai V. Zlobin Dr. Zlobin, a former professor at Moscow State University, joined the Center for Defense Information in 2001 as a Senior Fellow and Director of Russian and Asian Programs. He is a leading scholar of U.S.-Russian relations, Russian, Eurasian and regional politics, history and international security. Dr. Zlobin also edits and directs the CDI project Washington ProFile, a Russian language international news and analysis agency. The online service is designed to support freedom of information in Russia and other former Soviet Union countries, by providing independent, non-commercial information on the United States, including topics such as U.S. policy towards Russia and the former Soviet Union, non-proliferation, the U.S. military, U.S. economic interests in Russia and abroad, and U.S. domestic policy. Dr. Zlobin writes a regular column for the major Russian daily Izvestia and has been a special correspondent to Literaturnaya Gazeta, Obshchaya Gazeta, and Nezavisimaya Gazeta. He serves on the editorial boards of several academic periodicals, and is the executive editor of Demokratizatsiya, the Journal of Post-Soviet Democratization. Dr. Zlobin is the author of 10 books and more than 200 academic articles, published in over 15 languages. His editorial opinions have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, International Herald Tribune, and Chicago Tribune, among other publications. He co-authored a high school history text book used in Russia, and received several prestigious teaching and research grants, including two MacArthur Foundation awards, two from the Truman Institute and another from the Soros Foundation.
