Report on Beslan terrorist attack to be delivered in
September
MOSCOW, July 8 (RIA Novosti) - The report of a parliamentarian commission
investigating the September 2004 Beslan school tragedy will be delivered in
September, the speaker of the Russian parliament's lower chamber, the State Duma,
said Friday.
Boris Gryzlov said a deputy speaker, Sergei Baburin, had asked when the
report would be published because members of parliament had still not heard any
results from the commission, which is chaired by Federation Council Vice Speaker
Alexander Torshin, even though it had been conducting its investigation for
months.
Yury Savelyev, a member of the investigation commission, said it was
impossible to complete the report at the moment because new circumstances were
constantly emerging. He said the commission would work throughout the summer and
would make several trips to the region where the tragedy occurred.
As a result of the terrorist attack on the school in Beslan and the following
rescue operation, 330 people were killed, including 172 children, and hundreds
were hurt.
