Yukos case had negative influence on Russia's image -
Kremlin aide
MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) -The Yukos case has had a negative impact on
Russia's image, and its restoration will take several years, said Russian
presidential aide Igor Shuvalov.
"We should work hard to neutralize the negative consequences that the Yukos
case has inflicted on Russia and to restore and strengthen Russia's image,"
Shuvalov said at a meeting with journalists in Moscow..
The first thing that should be done is "try to avoid another such case,"
Shuvalov said.
"The law should be amended so that investors can feel protected from the
state," Shuvalov said.
"This will take more than one year. This is not a single step but hard work
for many years," Shuvalov said.
The leaders of the most developed countries, particularly the G8
member-states, "have a basically positive attitude towards Russia and President
Putin," Shuvalov said. "Russia's image in the eyes of these leaders is quite
good, and there are no problems here," the Kremlin aide said.
"As for publicity and the media coverage, some problems do exist," he said.
