Russia: Population's real income up in first half of 2003

Moscow, 18 July: Real income in Russia (adjusted to inflation) increased by 14.6 per cent in the first half of 2003 against the same period of 2002, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported on Friday [18 July].

In June 2003, real income increased by 13 per cent from June 2002 and by 3.2 per cent from [presumably May 2002] to May 2003.

Russia's nominal per capita income in June 2003 reached R4,974 a month, which is 28.6 per cent more than it was in June 2002 and 4.8 per cent more than in May 2003. In the first six months of 2003, nominal income in Russia (without adjustments for inflation) exceeded the level of January-June 2002 by 31 per cent.
