Russia denies reports on transit of US arms to
Afghanistan

Moscow, 4 November: The Russian Foreign Ministry has ruled out the possibility of the transit of armaments or military equipment to Afghanistan through Russia.
"The transit of armaments or military equipment to Afghanistan through Russian territory is absolutely not a possibility," the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Aleksandr Yakovenko said on Monday [4 November].
Asked by reporters about recent reports in the American media regarding the transit of US military cargo to Afghanistan, Yakovenko said "this is absolutely untrue".
Only humanitarian cargo is being transported to Afghanistan within the framework of the antiterrorist operation carried out under the UN's aegis, he said.
