As the European Union draws closer to making a final decision about its enlargement to Central and Eastern Europe, the status of the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad--located on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania--is the focus of renewed attention and intense debate. Richard Krickus, author of the new book "The Kaliningrad Question" (2002), will discuss the various aspects of this debate that threatens EU enlargement as well as relations between Russia and its European neighbors.
A distinguished professor emeritus of political science at Mary Washington College, Richard Krickus is the author of several books, including "The Superpowers in Crisis" (1987) and "Showdown: the Lithuanian Rebellion and the Break-up of the Soviet Empire" (1997).
