Russian ministry issues 2003 economic forecast

Russia's Economic Development and Trade Ministry has issued its forecast for the national economy in 2003. The main indicators were considered at a government session on 14 August and were reported by the Russian news agency Prime-TASS on the same day.
The ministry expects Russia's industrial production growth next year to be at between 3.2 and 4.1 per cent.
In the energy sector, Russia's crude oil and gas condensate production is expected to total 378-390m tonnes in 2003, up by between 3.6 and 6.2 per cent on the amount projected for this year. Natural gas output will grow to 600-615bn cu.m. in 2003, up by between 4 and 7.2 per cent from the output projected for 2002. Coal production is expected to total 270-285m tonnes next year, up by between 3.8 and 9.6 per cent from the amount projected for this year. Power generation is expected to total 911-925bn kWh, up by between 2.1 and 3.7 per cent from this year's projection.
