Kirill Simonov, the 18-year-old son of Alexei Simonov of the Glasnost Defense Foundation, has been killed in Moscow. This is a fast translation of information distributed the Glasnost Public Foundation. The Russian original appears below, for reference. --js

ALEXEI SIMONOV'S SON HAS DIED

Kirill Simonov, son of the leader of the Glasnost Defense Foundation, Aleksei Simonov, and grandson of the famous poet Konstantin Simonov, died the evening of March 31 at the "Aeroport" metro station, not far from his home. The eighteen-year-old Kirill died from crainial trauma, never having regained consciousness.

The "Interfax" news agency, quoting the Moscow GUVD, reports that Kirill's body was found about 2:45 near Number 6, First Aeroport Street. According to the agency's reports, he fell from an eleventh-floor window. An autopsy revealed no signs of a struggle or forcible death.

At the same time, the Glasnost Defense Foundation maintains that the young man's body was found near the the "Aeroport" metro station with crainial trauma. The Foundation noted that he showed no warning signs of suicide.

The editors of "Glasnost Media" and staff of the Glasnost Public Foundation express sympathy for the family of the deceased.
