More than one in four Russians live in poverty

Moscow, 26 December: There are 39.4m poor people in Russia with an income below the subsistence level, according to the State Statistics Committee.

They account for 27.2 per cent of the country's population, the committee said, citing the results of the third quarter of the current year. The number of poor people decreased by 5.8m from the second quarter of the year...
