Russia: Opposition journalist team to launch new magazine in December
Source: Ekho Moskvy news agency, Moscow, in Russian 1535 gmt 15 Oct 01

[No dateline as received] Regular publication of `Yezhenedelnyy Zhurnal' [Weekly magazine] will start in early December, its political observer Aleksandr Golts told Ekho Moskvy radio. It was initially planned that the journalist team headed by Sergey Parkhomenko, former editor-in-chief of `Itogi' magazine [formerly owned by emigre media tycoon Vladimir Gusinskiy and overtaken by state-owned gas monopoly Gazprom in May 2001] should have put the new magazine into circulation as early as in September.

"It turned out to be a difficult job to launch a new magazine which would be entirely different from existing ones," Golts said.

The editorial board of the new magazine is working and several pilot issues will be released soon, he said.
