In my essay with Nikolai Zlobin published in Obshchaya Gazeta this week, I had hoped that the line about Christian nations would have been edited. Unfortunately, due to communications lapses, it was not. My own view is that the largest country in the world and the most powerful country in the world are not Christian states, but secular states in which all religious faiths are practiced. Russia and the United States are also part of the Muslim world. These two states will only remain powerful and large if they remain secular and pluralistic and do not identify themselves or their enemies in religious terms. Back to the Top    Next Section
