Rules of Foreign Reporters' Trips to Chechnya to Be Brought Into Line With General Requirements - Diplomat

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Foreign journalists will thus far comply with the old rules regulating their trips to Chechnya, which requires special accreditation from the Russian Foreign Ministry and an insurance policy.

"The rules regulating foreign reporters' trips to Chechnya remain the same so far," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko told journalists on Wednesday.

The recent termination of the counter-terror operation regime in Chechnya implies that foreign reporters' work in this republic will comply with the regulations common in other regions of Russia.

"Practical implementation of this decision are being specified now," Nesterenko said.
