Outgoing Year Was One of The Most Difficult Ones in Georgia's Recent History - Saakashvili
TBILISI. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has described the outgoing year as one of the most difficult ones for Georgia in its recent history.
"All kinds of troubles have fallen to us simultaneously. In any other small country, a war and ensuing occupation, a grave global crisis, and months of destabilization at home would inevitably lead to destruction, but we have managed to endure and develop to spite our enemies," Saakashvili said on Rustavi 2 television channel on Friday evening.
He admitted that the level of unemployment in Georgia is high, and there are other social problems.
"We will resolve these problems as well, because large investments are coming to Georgia," he said.
The agricultural sector has been developing rapidly in Georgia in 2009, Saakashvili said.
"Despite Russia's economic embargo, we will produce more wine this year than in the years when it was shipped to the Russian market. Therefore, some in Russia have started to talk about our wine's possible return to their market," he said.
