Location:

We are pleased to invite you to the third of a series of three seminars on “Rethinking Russia and U.S.-Russian Relations” convened by the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute and a number of concerned individuals with extensive experience and deep knowledge of Russia. The seminar themes have been:

The Role of Russia in the Global World Order; Russia’s Role in the Global Economy; and The New Russia: A Look at Internal Developments

The final speaker in the series, Andrei Kortunov, is president of the New Eurasia Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing social development and human capital, as well as improving the competitiveness and innovative potential of Russia’s territories. Dr. Kortunov will speak about how the current economic crisis is affecting ordinary Russians outside of Moscow, and what the social and political implications may be. Will the crisis have an impact on social and political stability? What is the potential for protest movements? What will the impact be on the government, especially Prime Minister Putin and President Medvedev?
