Politkovskaya's suspected killer hides in EU state - Novaya Gazeta editor

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - The man accused of shooting dead Russian
investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya was hiding in a European
Union country and could have been arrested in April 2009, Novaya Gazeta
editor Sergei Sokolov told a news conference in Moscow.

"As for the suspected killer, I confirm that he is currently abroad
and is moving from one country to another," Sokolov said.

This person "could have been arrested in April," he added.

Asked about the country where Politkovskaya's suspected killer is
believed to have been hiding, Sokolov said that he "certainly has some
ideas regarding this issue, but wouldn't disclose them."

"It is an EU country," he added.
