Russia to go ahead with privatization in 2010 deputy PM
VLADIVOSTOK, October 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government will go ahead with privatizations next year by putting to auction state-owned stakes in some companies, a Russian first deputy prime minister told the Rossiya TV channel on Saturday.
"The Russian government is currently working on a privatization program for the next year. As of now, the list already contains quite a lot of companies in which state-owned stakes will be sold," Igor Shuvalov said.
He said privatizations would help these companies raise an extra capital through an IPO or bring extra funds to the federal budget through the sale of assets.
Shuvalov said the government would conduct a thorough analysis prior to selling its assets.
He ruled out the sale of stakes in such large state-run corporations as oil producer Rosneft or rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD).
