Subject: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS IN SIBERIA

Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2009

JRL readers in the United Kingdom may be interested in a film I produced with my colleague George Carey. Last June was the 100th anniversary of the so-called Tunguska Meteorite, a cosmic explosion that obliterated huge swathes of the Russian Far North around the Evenki homelands of Tunguska. George and I travelled to the region and shot a film that is not so much science as a prism through which to view a fascinating period of Russian and Soviet social history.

There is some science in it too - unique footage of the Italian Bologna University team who think they may have found the answer to this mystery that has fed the imaginations of Russians, and not only, for over 100 years.

The film will be broadcast on Tuesday, June 16th on More4 at 10pm and is 100 minutes in duration.

With kind regards,
Teresa Cherfas
