Subject: Inaccurate reports on Secretary Rice's meeting with Civil Society Leaders
Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2008
From: "Russell, Melissa H \(Moscow\)" <RussellMH@state.gov>

David --

As a regular reader of your daily list, I wanted to draw your attention to something that you might pick up from Jamestown Foundation (they reprinted a report on Kasparov.ru) which is factually inaccurate. The Russian Foreign Ministry had no role  in the guest list for Secretary Rice's meeting with Civil Society leaders.

The Embassy does not comment about official meetings or guest lists. We have been in touch with Kasparov.ru, but want to prevent the further spread of misinformation.

Many thanks,
Melissa Russell
