Russia's Media Outlets Increasing Coverage Of Presidential Candidates
MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - First Deputy Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has the highest name recognition among candidates for the Russian presidency, the System for Comprehensive Analysis of News (SCAN) created by Interfax found (see www.scan.interfax.ru ).
In the period between January 28 and February 3, Dmitry Medvedev, a candidate for president from the United Russia party supported by another three parties, was mentioned in 782 materials in the Russian media in relation to political, financial and economic matters.
A week earlier, 713 stories in the media were about Dmitry Medvedev, SCAN said.
The second place in name recognition is held by LDPR party candidate Vladimir Zhirinovsky, 208 stories mentioning him against, 157 a week earlier; the third place is held by self-nominee and leader of the Democratic Party of Russia Andrei Bogdanov, with 182 materials mentioning him, against 166 a week earlier.
The last name in last week's name recognition list is Gennady Zyuganov, with 169 articles mentioning him, against 125 a week earlier.
SCAN, a product of the Interfax International Information Group, provides up-to-date information and access to electronic media archives, as well as a unique possibility for monitoring and analyzing text information.
