RUSSIA! Magazine Presents Summer 2008 Issue, Out June 5. 2008

Highlights: Emily Gould on Gary Shteyngart, Keith Gessen and fiction's "Beet Generation"; Nina Khrushcheva on Vladimir Nabokov and William F. Buckley; Russia's #1 porn star; Michael Idov on Dmitry Medvedev; and color photos from 1909.

The fourth installment of the irreverent glossy quarterly (recently hailed as "one of the best new magazines of 2007" by Library Journal) hits newsstands nationwide on June 5. "The most spectacular thing about this issue," says Editor-in-Chief Michael Idov, "has to be the matching of material to author. Khrushchev's great-granddaughter writes about the man who once printed 'Khrushchev Not Welcome Here' stickers. The New Yorker's Julia Ioffe chats with a porn star. And Manhattan's current succès de scandale, Emily Gould, conclusively proves that she can write about people other than Emily Gould."

Issue Highlights

THE BEET GENERATION: In modern fiction, Russian-born Americans are all the rage and if that requires a bit of "Slav-face," so be it. Emily Gould, of Gawker.com and NY Times Magazine fame, quizzes Gary Shteyngart, Keith Gessen and the other darlings of the New York literary scene.

GOING OUT ON TOP: Russia's #1 porn star, Lena Berkova, on starting her own political party and bringing "the world's thinnest models" into the U.S.

CONSERVATIVE COMRADES: Nina Khrushcheva, great-granddaughter of the Soviet Premier, explores the close friendship of William F. Buckley and Vladimir Nabokov and the unlikely ideological bridge that connected them.

MEET THE NEW BOSS: Michael Idov's firsthand account of Moscow's mood on the eve of the world's least suspenseful presidential election.

PLUS: Color photos of Tsarist Russia; Exclusive first look at the Olympic team's uniform design; Western A-listers demean themselves for millions at Moscow's private parties (Gwyneth Paltrow in a cage!); and the Risk board teaches Siberian geography.
