Dear David,
Could I ask you you to post this little announcement for a TRUELY unique media project in Central Asia? Which can benefit a lot of your readers.
'Radio Dolina - Mira ili Sporov' - www.freedolina.net - which translates into 'Radio (Fergana) Valley - Peace or Dispute?' is sponsored by the Danish NGO International Media Support (www.i-m-s.org), but run by a group of young journalists from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. I help out with the editing and also the training - development is a central part of the project.
www.freedolina.net is unique in that it offers ON LINE radio documentaries (from 8 to 40 minutes) on 'heavy' topics (such as corruption, geopolitics, border and ethnic problems) as well as longer, analytical articles and reportages, as well as news updated every hour. Very lively and in-your-face.
This week - the two year anniversary of the Kyrgyz 'Revolution' - we are running a number fo features on that, in a few weeks we are gearing up to the two year mark since the massacre in Andijan.
I believe that many researchers on the region would benefit from visiting this site. The materials are in Russian, Uzbek and Kyrgyz.
