BAKU. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Russian-U.S. cooperation in using the Gabala radar station will put Azerbaijan in an uncomfortable position, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nasir Hamidi Zari has said.

"I think that, if this happens (the joint operation of the Gabala radar station by Russia and the U.S.), this will make Azerbaijan's condition uncomfortable" because, "in their (Russia's and the U.S.'s) opinion, Azerbaijan does not seem to play any role in this issue, although Iran has repeatedly talked about this and treated this issue with sensitivity," the Iranian diplomat told journalists on Tuesday in reply to a question from Interfax.

"First of all, this issue is more sensitive for Azerbaijan than for us," he added.

"This issue damages Azerbaijan's independence, sovereignty, and freedom. We have always expressed our sensitivity to this problem, and we are following the development of the processes with sensitivity as well," Zari said.

"Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, independence, and freedom are important to us," he said.
