Russian Liberal-Democratic Party leader says UK is Russia's main enemy
RIA-Novosti

Moscow, 17 July: The leader of Russia's Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) and State Duma deputy Vladimir Zhirinovskiy believes that the expulsion of four diplomats from the UK and the refusal to grant visas to officials is a continuation of hostile policy towards Russia.

"The UK is the most hostile country towards Russia. Russia has never had such a dedicated and systematic enemy and it never will have," Zhirinovskiy told RIA Novosti on Tuesday (17 July).

The LDPR leader takes the view that the UK has conducted a hostile policy against Russia for a long time.

The Crimean War, the murders of Russian tsars by terrorists, the Russian-Japanese War and the Cold War - all these historical events with tragic consequences for Russia bear an English trace, Zhirinovskiy believes.

"Today (exiled tycoon Boris) Berezovskiy and (former rebel leader Akhmed) Zakayev are there (in London) and Russian economic forums are being carried out, where attempts are being made to influence Russia in a negative way," Zhirinovskiy added.

The LDPR leader believes that the situation surrounding (Litvinenko suspect) Lugovoy is just an excuse. He said that the UK "just needed another scenario, another phase where it could instil its enmity".

Zhirinovskiy is convinced that there will be more provocations. "We need to be more active. We have to prevent these blows," he said.

Commenting on possible consequences for Russian-British business relations, Zhirinovskiy said that he was convinced that no major harm would be incurred.

"Businesses will not close down, because businesses love money and only in Russia is it possible to make big money," he believes.
