Yushchenko's Poisoning Case Remains Unsolved - Prosecutor

DONETSK. Dec 15. (Interfax) - Alexander Medvedko, Ukraine's Prosecutor General, said it remains unclear who poisoned President Viktor Yushchenko.

"I can assure you that this crime is still unsolved, but I do want to solve it and make the results known to the public," Medvedko said at a press conference in Donetsk on Friday while commenting on a statement made by President Viktor Yushchenko that the evidence in his poisoning case was sufficient to arrest the suspects in the crime.

The prosecutor said that he still had no idea who committed the crime. "I understand that I could be criticized because the case remains unsolved," he said, adding that although the case was in the Security Service's jurisdiction, the investigation will be carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office.

Medvedko said that even if he wanted to conceal some case-related facts for whatever reason, he would be unable to do so, because "other agencies are also working on this matter.
