Senior Leadership Position Announced
Dr. Fiona Hill
National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia

Director of National Intelligence John D. Negroponte has appointed Dr. Fiona Hill as the National Intelligence Council's (NIC) National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia. Dr. Hill joins the NIC from the Brookings Institution, where she is a Senior Fellow. Hill earlier served as Director of Strategic Planning at the Eurasia Foundation and directed several projects at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Dr. Hill is one of this country's leading experts on Eurasia and has authored numerous books and articles on Russia, Central Asia and other regions of the former Soviet Union. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and a master's degree from St. Andrews University in Scotland.

The National Intelligence Council is the Intelligence Community's center for mid-and long-term strategic analysis. The NIC's National Intelligence Officers are the Community's top experts in their field and serve as the DNI's most senior substantive advisors. NIOs are responsible for supporting the DNI in meetings with our government's top leaders and senior policy advisors. Additionally, NIOs produce National Intelligence Estimates – the Intelligence Community's most authoritative statement on issues of critical concern.
