Putin Aide Says Russia Not In Financial G7 For
Political Reasons
MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - Igor Shuvalov, presidential advisor and Russian Sherpa in G8, believes Russia is not being admitted to the financial G7 for political reasons.
"European partners support Russia, but Americans and others try to avoid the subject and not discuss it with us," he said on Ekho Moskvy radio on Friday.
However, today Russia has greater influence on global economic issues than some other G8 countries, Shuvalov said.
Shuvalov said Russia should have become a full member of the financial group a long time ago. He refrained from naming any specific deadline for resolving the problem.
