Most Russians see poverty, crime as main problems - poll
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - A poll has shown that 55% of Russians see poverty and low wages as their country's main problems. Inflation is the number one problem for 45% and increasing crime for 30% of the population.
Other serious problems are unemployment, the main concern for 26%, growing drug abuse (20%), low health service standards (18%), allegedly weak state authority (17%), corruption (17%), environmental pollution (13%), delayed wages and pensions (7%) and housing and utility adversities (6%), a poll conducted in mid-August by the Regional Political Studies Agency on 1,500 people says. The sum exceeds 100% as it was possible to choose more than one option.
