:: The remains of the Mi-8 military helicopter were discovered 115 kilometers southeast of Petropavlosk-Kamchatka. The helicopter fell from a height of about 1,350 meters. All 20 crew members and passengers, including Sakhalin Oblast Governor Igor Farkhutdinov, died.
:: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the friends and relatives of those who died in the Mi-8 helicopter crash.
:: Minister of Emergencies Sergei Shoigu will head the special state commission that will investigate the causes of the tragedy and help the families of the victims.
:: Former media magnate Vladimir Gusinsky was arrested at the Athens Airport. Gusinsky will stand trial before a Greek judge on Monday.
:: The MAKS-2003 Air Show gathered a record number of visitors today. The highlight of the program was the 2-kilometer heart drawn in the sky by a team of French pilots.
:: The United Russia Party held a presentation at the Vybory-2003 [Elections-2003] Forum in Moscow.
:: Minister of Defense Sergei Ivanov participated in the Pacific Fleet military exercises as the second pilot of a Tu-160. Ivanov declared that he was happy with the crew and the plane. The exercises are the biggest in the history of the Pacific Fleet.
:: In Kursk, celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the battle on the Kursk salient are underway.
:: The 80th anniversary of the first flight of legendary pilot Valery Chkalov is celebrated in his hometown of Chkalovsk in the Nizhegorod Oblast.

:: Three people died and 20 were injured in a series of explosions at three trolley stops in Krasnodar. An anti-terrorist operation and an investigation are underway.
:: The bodies of the victims of the Mi-8 helicopter flight were shipped from Kamchatka to the Sakhalin. A mourning ceremony was held right at the airport. Three days of mourning have been announced for the 20 pilots and passengers.
:: Russian businessman Vladimir Gusinsky is being held at a detention center in the Athens Airport. Tomorrow, a Greek judge will determine whether Guskinsky will be extradited to Russia.
:: The trial of six former officers and entrepreneurs accused of planning the murder of Moskovsky Komsomolets journalist Dmitry Kholodov has been resumed.
:: 38 Russian chemical industry experts will spend a year in Tajikistan helping restore production at a major carbamide factory. The factory had once produced 200,000 tons of fertilizer a year.
:: The active phase of military training exercises began in the Far East. Border troops officers are “hunting” for poachers.
