Opinion: US-Russian Partnership No Longer Exists

SAINT PETERSBURG, April 3. 'There is no US-Russian partnership,' according to Yuri Solonin, Saint Petersburg leader of the United Russia party, who spoke today at a meeting of the Civil Debates club, which was held at Rosbalt news agency. He said that a US-Russian partnership was 'fiction and pretence.' There is no partnership on any single common cause, he insisted.

The theme of the meeting was The Political Season in Saint Petersburg - the agenda. Political scientists, researchers and specialists discussed the political spring agenda in Saint Petersburg, Russia's interests and goals in world politics after the Iraq war, the new role of leading international organisations, federal interests in the Baltic region and the role of Saint Petersburg in President Vladimir Putin's political plans.
