Another chance: Important Information About Your Subscription to Johnson's Russia List
[Special Message from David Johnson, Sept. 16, 2009]

Dear JRL recipient,

Please don't delay your contribution to keep Johnson's Russia List coming to you nearly every day.

I cheerfully begin my work at 7 am in order to expeditiously provide you and our many fellow Russia-watchers around the world with a unique resource for our work and interest. As you may know, I've been doing this for many years. I remain committed to understanding Russia and to helping all of us productively consider and debate developments there. That has not changed.

What has changed? Key foundation supporters no longer provide funding grants to JRL and the World Security Institute can no longer subsidize JRL. So it is completely up to the generosity of you and others to allow this work to continue. Last year, a record number of readers gave to support JRL. I need all of you again this year, and more of those of you who did not.

In 2008, you received 235 issues. And thus far in 2009, 171! Not bad! If you make a $50 donation, that’s about 20 cents a copy. What does the newspaper cost today—- 50 or 75 cents a day?! JRL is an enormous bargain. Will you help JRL continue?

Over 400 readers have contributed so far this year---thank you!!! (and do disregard this appeal) Our goal is 1,500 donors to keep us going, and so I very much hope to hear from a large number of you, now if at all possible.

Have you forgotten if you gave this year?---ask me if you are not sure.

Contributions to support JRL should be made out to the World Security Institute. $50 or more is the normal suggested contribution. Those that use JRL for business purposes will, I hope, value it accordingly and contribute more. A basic or student contribution of $25 is also valuable, and completely affordable and cost-effective. Even in the current economic crisis.

You may send a check made out to WSI to:

World Security Institute Attn: JRL

Or you can give via a credit card by calling Judy Edwards at WSI at 202-797-5260.
(If you have difficulties reaching her let me know.)

A bank transfer is possible. Contact me for details.

If you are a U.S. taxpayer, your contribution will be tax-deductible.

Direct any questions or comments to me.

I have enjoyed putting out JRL since 1996 and hope to continue the project for years to come. The complex and controversial subject of Russia NEEDS this kind of attention. Please help insure JRL's survival today!

Thank you very much.

David
