Patriarch Kirill thanks Dmitry Medvedev for taking care of people

Moscow, September 14, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia congratulated Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on his birthday.

“Present life raises new difficult challenges to our state and nation. You proved yourself as a wise, strong willed state leader caring for people in this situation. You have always paid attention to moral and spiritual condition of our society which directly influence politics, economy and intellectual sphere,” the official Moscow Patriarchate website has quoted the Patriarch as saying in his message on Monday.

According to the Primate, initiatives the President has recently launched are aimed at developing spiritual factor in school life and in the armed forces, at struggling against social vices, alcoholism, gambling, crimes against children and can help “improve moral climate in the country.”

Patriarch Kirill believes, constructive church and state dialogue help settle many problems the country is facing and to set up “prosperous and peaceful life.” The Primate hopes for progress and development of this fruitful cooperation.

The Patriarch wished Medvedev and his relatives good health, happiness and prosperity. “May the Lord bless you and crown with success all Your work done for the welfare of our Motherland and our people,” the Patriarch said.
