Medvedev's press secretary says latest meeting with Obama 'informal'
Interfax

Moscow, 7 July: At the meeting between Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev and Barack Obama in the Kremlin on the second day of the US president's visit, which lasted about an hour, the two presidents continued discussing issues connected with the concrete implementation of all the agreement they had reached at their talks on Monday (6 July), Natalya Timakova, the Russian president's press secretary, has told journalists.

The two sides also discussed economic cooperation, "above all, in the energy sector", she noted.

The commitment to step up the work in all areas of the groups set up as part of the presidential commission was reaffirmed.

Timakova noted the informal nature of this meeting between the US and Russian leaders. In particular, the Russian president showed to his US counterpart his office, and gave him a guided tour of the residence.

Medvedev and Obama then moved on to the Greater Kremlin Palace, viewing en route the Tsar Cannon, the Tsar Bell and the cathedrals of the Kremlin.

In the Kremlin they rejoined their wives, and proceeded to the reception which Medvedev gave in honour of the US president and his wife.

At the end of the reception, Obama had a meeting with the Patriarch of All Russia.

Journalists have learnt that the menu at the reception included dishes of the Russian cuisine, including crab salad, borsht and beef Stroganoff.
