Ahead of the July 6-8 summit between Presidents Obama and Medvedev, Carnegie experts in Moscow will brief on expectations for the visit, prospects for START negotiations, and areas for potential cooperation, including Iran, Afghanistan, and energy security.
Participating from Moscow will be:
Ambassador James F. Collins, director of the Carnegie Russia & Eurasia Program in Washington and the U.S. ambassador to Moscow from 1997 to 2001,
Dmitri Trenin, director of the Carnegie Moscow Center,
Lilia Shevtsova, senior associate at the Carnegie Moscow Center.

Participants
Ambassador James F. Collins is director of the Carnegie Russia & Eurasia Program in Washington and the U.S. ambassador to Moscow from 1997 to 2001.
Dmitri Trenin is director of the Carnegie Moscow Center. He has been with the Center since its inception. He retired from the Russian Army after a military career that included participation in the Geneva strategic arms control negotiations.
Lilia Shevtsova co-chairs the Russian Domestic Politics and Political Institutions Project at the Carnegie Moscow Center. Before joining the Endowment, she was deputy director of the Moscow Institute of International Economic and Political Studies, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and served as director of the Center of Political Studies in Moscow. Shevtsova is also professor of political science at the Moscow State Institute of International Affairs of the MFA of Russia.
