34% OF RUSSIANS TRUST PRESIDENT AND 33% TRUST NOBODY

MOSCOW, March 17 (RIA Novosti) - The majority of Russians (34%) trust Russian President Putin among all state and public institutions, proves the data published on Thursday by the holding Russian public opinion and the market research (ROMIR Monitoring). The data was acquired after the survey of 1,500 people in 100 municipal and rural areas of Russia. Since the respondents were offered a multiple-choice survey, the sum of indices exceeds 100%.

The president was followed by the so-called candidate "against everyone", which in this particular survey was rendered to as "I trust nobody" and received 33% of respondents' votes.

The rest of the data is as follows: 16% trust the Church, 14% - the Army, 8% - the government, 7% - the unions and mass media, 5% - the police. Only 4% of the respondents supported the State Duma and the bodies of the local authority, while the Federation Council received 2% of votes.

The president had the maximum support among the respondents from the North-West district (40%) and the minimum - in the Siberian district (29%). The prevailing number of the respondents, who trust nobody, comes from the Central region (39%).

The trust of pensioners is dominated by the trust in the president (36%), the Church (19%) and the Army (16%). Young people aging 18-24 also expressed the highest trust in the president (35%), and in comparison with other groups of respondents showed the highest figure in support of the government (9%). Respondents from other age categories gave the answers corresponding with average statistics across Russia.
