VLADIMIR PUTIN: STRONG ECONOMY AND HIGH GROWTH RATE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUANTITY OF NUCLEAR WARHEADS

MOSCOW, June 5 (RIA Novosti correspondent Yelena Glushakova) - On Thursday while speaking at the meeting with students-winners of the competition "My house. My city. My country" the Russian President stated that strong economy and high development growth rate were more important in the contemporary world than the quantity of nuclear warheads.

While talking about the problem of nuclear weapons he indicated that Russia and the USA have approximately the same number of warheads and means of their delivery. According to him, "it is one of the elements which allow to state that Russia is a full-scale member of many international clubs but in the contemporary world that is not enough." In his opinion, strong economy and its high growth rates are more important than the amount of warheads.
