VLADIMIR PUTIN: STRONG ECONOMY AND HIGH GROWTH RATE ARE
MORE IMPORTANT THAN QUANTITY OF NUCLEAR WARHEADS
MOSCOW, June 5 (RIA Novosti correspondent Yelena Glushakova) - On Thursday
while speaking at the meeting with students-winners of the competition "My
house. My city. My country" the Russian President stated that strong
economy and high development growth rate were more important in the contemporary
world than the quantity of nuclear warheads.
While talking about the problem of nuclear weapons he indicated that Russia
and the USA have approximately the same number of warheads and means of their
delivery. According to him, "it is one of the elements which allow to state
that Russia is a full-scale member of many international clubs but in the
contemporary world that is not enough." In his opinion, strong economy and
its high growth rates are more important than the amount of warheads.
