Memorial Events for September 11 Victims to Be Held in Moscow September 8 through 11 September 5, 2002

MOSCOW, September 5. According to Alexander Vershbow, the US Ambassador to the Russian Federation, a memorial ceremony for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attack will be held at his residence in Moscow on September 11. Mr. Vershbow also said the administration of Moscow would organise, from September 8 through 11, a number of concerts in the commemoration of the victims.

Mr. Vershbow also said that an exhibition entitled September 11, We Remember would open at the State Library of Russia on the anniversary of the attack. Presented will be posters with the photocopies of the first issues of newspapers that came out immediately following the terrorist attack on September 11 and photographs taken by the photographers of Russia's news agencies in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and New York, showing the reaction of the citizens of Russia to the tragic events. The visitors of the exhibit will see letters, children's drawings, etc. The Exhibit will last till October 10. It is organised with the support of the Embassy of the US and the library's exhibition centre.
