PRESIDENT PUTIN SENDS INDEPENDENCE DAY CONGRATULATIONS TO US PRESIDENT

MOSCOW, JULY 4, 2002./From a RIA Novosti correspondent/ President Vladimir Putin has sent US President George Bush a message of congratulation on the occasion of Independence Day in which he conveyed to the American people his sincere congratulations and wishes for well-being and prosperity.

"The agreements achieved during your official visit to Russia which were confirmed during our subsequent meetings in Italy and Canada, evidence the successful development of Russian-American relations in the spirit of cooperation between partners," noted the Russian leader. "I am firmly convinced that a solid foundation has been built for the further development of mutually advantageous cooperation between our two countries, for the joint struggle against global threats and the challenges of our times, for the consolidation of safety and stability in the world.

Only by acting jointly shall we be able to find solutions to the most difficult problems which not only Russia and the USA but also the entire international community are facing today."
