n 1983 President Ronald Reagan introduced a plan called the Strategic Defense Initiative,
otherwise known as "Star Wars." It was intended to create an impenetrable defense against
Soviet ballistic missiles. With the end of the Cold War, the program was slowed down dramatically
due to the reduced threats that America faced.
