   Military Spending: Where Has All the Money Gone?
 

he doubling of military spending from 1979 to 1985 was accompanied by many examples of waste. To end these kinds of abuses, the Packard Commission in 1986 recommended numerous Pentagon procurement reforms. While some of the horror stories of the mid-80s have diminished, there are those who have found that the Pentagon is still wasting money.
