CDI MOSCOW STAFF
CDI's first international outpost, CDI Moscow, is working to expand upon the Center's long-standing expertise in U.S.-Russian relations through information exchange and to provide a source of independent information and security affairs in Moscow. Dr. Safranchuk joined CDI in July 2001 to open a branch office in Russia, CDI Moscow, aimed at providing the Russian media and public with independent, unfiltered information about U.S.-Russian security relations, from nuclear policy to NATO environmental issues. A well-known nuclear analyst in Russia, he spent four years at the PIR Center in Moscow before joining CDI — including as the director of the center's "Nuclear Weapons and Their Future" project. He has written extensively on nuclear weapons and arms control issues in both Russian and English, and is a frequent contributor to Yaderny Kontrol and Arms Control Letters. Dr. Sanfranchuk graduated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO).
