The Center for Defense Information (CDI) is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Gifts to CDI are tax deductible, as allowed by law. CDI receives no funds from the military or from military contractors. The Center is financed by voluntary tax-deductible contributions from individuals and grants from foundations.

Supporters living within the United States who donate $45 or more receive a subscription to CDI's monthly publication The Defense Monitor. Contributors living abroad may receive the subscription for making donations of at least $55.
